When is the best time to visit?
PEI is a very beautiful island with 4 seasons. But if this is your first trip to PEI, visiting between late June and September is recommended. Almost all attractions are open and ‘Anne of Green Gables Musical’ is a must to see. You should come to the Island in the middle of October if you want to see the beautiful fall colors, but don’t forget your warm clothes.
What do you recommend to eat?
PEI is famous for fresh seafood. Lobster, Mussels, Oysters, Scallops, and Salmon are plentiful. You could visit one of the Lobster Suppers and enjoy the Islanders’ famous hospitality. Potatoes and other farm grown foods are the major product of the island.
What kind of flowers can I see on the Island?
Apple Blossoms, Lupins, Butter Cups, Bleeding Heart, Forget Me Not, Lilacs, Bunchberries in June. Daisies,Queen Ann’s Lace, Sunflower, Potato Blossoms, Wild Rose in July to August. There are many more wild flowers and you can also visit Country Garden in New Glasgow, where you can enjoy a lot of garden flowers.
How long should I stay to see the whole Island?
It depends. Most of Japanese visitors stay here for 3 to 4 days. Most visitors from Japan leave us comments saying ‘PEI is much bigger than expected’. You can enjoy the most of Anne related attractions with 2 or 3 days, but if you want to see the whole island, you need to stay at least a week. There are so many inns and B&Bs all over the island - it would be fun to stay at one of them during your stay.
What is the popular souvenir of the Island?
There are a couple of shops selling the products of the Preserve Company in Charlottetown. There are a number of different Anne products everywhere, of course. 2008 is the 100th anniversary of Anne of Green Gables, so the book could be a great souvenir to your family or friends, too. Pure wool sweater, pottery, quilts products, fine crafts are always popular.
Is there any public transportation?
There is a great new city transit service in Charlottetown. But if you want to go out of Charlottetown, you have to use sightseeing bus, taxi or shuttle. It is very convenient to use daily sightseeing tours on which you can make friends from all over the world. A new visitor information center is located in the Founders’ Hall at the bottom of Prince Street, by the waterfront.
